Quinticential pocket knife-Fantastic!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I have owned various incarnations of Victorinox Swiss Army knives for almost 3 decades. I think I am on my fourth now. Two lost and one given away. It lives in the pocket of my jeans every single day.
They change the model names and features around from year to year.
The Explorer is my current favorite and is essentially THE knife I have owned for all these years.
One of the major qualifying elements for me is the Phillips Head screwdriver, which I use regularly. Many of victorinox’s models have this screwdriver coming out of the handle perpandicular to the handle’s length. Which seems absolutely ridiculous. It’s very awkard to use effectively in that configuration. Much better when it comes straight off the end of the handle, as a typical screwdriver does.
So that’s what I look for first. The large knife blades, small knife blade is great. The scissors are great…more than a gimmick. I use them frequently. (Be careful not to overbend the spring when “adjusting”…although you can get replacements. I replaced mine in Rome several years ago at a tiny knife shop)
I use the magnifying glass as well…for a whole bunch of stuff. And more so now that my eyes are starting to go!
Essentially, everything on here has a purpose and is useful in my daily life, with the exception perhaps, of the fence-wire-puller thingy. It is a reasonable size and weight. No extra wood camping saw or chainsaw or anything else that’s only going to get use once a year.
Manufacturing quality and finish on these are great. As they say, “Don’t be fooled by imitations”.
Perfect knife: Great features, nothing extraneous, good weight, great quality, and great price.
Don’t lose it and you’ll have it for the rest of your life.

Top quality knife

I bought these as Xmas presents for my staff this year. They loved them. It is the most useful knife that you can buy for its size. The cork puller is the greatest when you find a killer deal on a cheap wine and you want to taste it before you commit to a whole case. It also has a real phillips screw driver that you will find 100 uses for.

Cool Knife indeed!!

I bought this as a present for myself as it was on sale at Amazon and I could not be more pleased. Good heft and enough tools to make me feel like my Boy Scout days. A great tool for campers who want an all-in-one type for trips. You can open or repair most anything with this – I say buy it !!

The best utility tool ever
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I highly recommend this product. I have owned a Victornox Explorer for over 30 years. I have found that the set of features on the Explorer has been the most versatile for climbing and hiking. I have used every tool on the knife in situations in the field that were critical. They have helped fix snowshoes, adjust crampons, remove slivers and find difficult to see Devil’s Club thorns, helped start fires, open wine bottles, trim finger nails, cut moleskin, open cans, fix flashlights, tent poles and packs, clean fish, and countless other tasks. I have never had any tool on this knife break.
This year we are hiking the Pacific Crest Trail and my hiking companion did not have a knife. What better birthday gift than an Explorer. I know it will serve him as well as mine has.

A great idea for a present, complete with a gift box!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Have looked at this Victorinox Swiss Army Explorer with Collectible Gift Box so many times before, always trying to find some justification for getting it… but in this case, it’s for a gift. Already have a number of these fine Victorinox products, including the Victorinox Swiss Army Champion Plus, which sits in my camera bag, ready to go at all times. It’s perhaps one of the best all-around tools that a pro or amateur photographer could look for as far as versatility goes.
Also have the Victorinox Swiss Army Ranger, one of the more well-known models, and the model that currently sits in the glove box of my car. These models are all good examples of how well Victorinox responds to their customers’ needs over the years. They are still crafted from stainless steel in Switzerland, and each of their models includes a lifetime warranty that they know how to back up.
Check the product specifications and you’ll see that the Swiss Army Explorer has sixteen tools that include large and small blades, a can opener, small and regular Philiips screwdriver, a bottle opener combined with a large screwdriver, a wire stripper, a very handy reamer, tweezers, toothpick, small scissors, a multi-purpose hook (useful as a parcel carrier), a magnifying glass, s small key ring, and of course the the characteristic corkscrew.
This Swiss Army Explorer is the same model that has been included in the Design Collection at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City. The red and silver gift box has been crafted to look like the Original Swiss Army shield/logo, and it makes this knife a perfect present for so many people.
And a gift is what this one is for, not for myself, but for a young man who already has a basic model for everyday use. He’s expressed an interest in collecting some of the Victorinox Swiss Army products, and this one is the perfect start.
