SpineWorx Back Realignment Device

Posted on 05 September 2009 by admin

Designed by a chiropractor, this natural back support system uses your body\’s own weight to apply controlled pressure to the spinal vertebrae. As you lie on Spine-Worx, your spine is pressed firmly against the length of its two unique padded and contoured rails, injection-molded to fit the natural shape of the mid- and lower back. The vertebrae in the spine are gradually and gently encouraged to realign into their natural positions, which helps to relieve backpain and improve overall mobility.more info

    Works for me

A friend who is a body worker let me borrow his Spine-Worx for a week; I liked it so much I ordered my own before the week was through. I don’t think this should be a complete replacement for those who need chiropractic adjustments, but I have been using it daily for about 3 weeks and I am seeing tremendous improvement with back spasms and with my posture. After the first few days, you really begin to look forward to using it. A “session” lasts only 5 to 7 minutes; start with once a day, and work up to twice a day.

    Spineworx a Worthwhile Investment

Overall, I am very pleased with this product.

I get intense headaches, and I have noticed that if I get on the spineworx when I feel a headache coming on, I can often keep the headache from intensifying (and sometimes get rid of it all together). Also, my upper back tends to hold a lot of tension, and I find the Spineworx definitely relieves some of that tension and “stretches it out.” I start out with a pillow under my head, but I usually remove it after about a minute, as my chiropractor told me that this will help restore the natural curvator in my neck (which I guess is “off”). At any rate, I do prefer it without a pillow under my head, as I can feel it stretching my back more fully.

Additionally, I find the Spineworx helps a LOT with my lower back. I have a weak pelvis that likes to “slide out” on my right side. I have been to chiropractors and physical therapists, and while it has helped some for a short while, I’ve basically been told this is something I am just going to have to live with, as I seem to have weak ligaments holding my pelvis and right hip. But I do find that I get great relief using the Spineworx. In fact, I have found that when I have intense lower-back menstrual cramps, Spineworx relieves them completely within 3-5 minutes! (This is saying a lot, as even high doses of Advil usually only takes the edge off.)

On the “weak” side of the Spinworx …

I don’t find that the Spinworx does very well with the middle of my back (right between the shoulder blades). I have a specific spot that feels like it is out, and while I have read several reviews where people actually experienced their backs cracking or popping, I haven’t been able to accomplish this–and it doesn’t feel like it “aligns” that area very well. Maybe I just need more practice and better relaxing. To get the most effect in the shoulder-blade area, I lift my arms so that they are straight up, above my head.

Also, I don’t find that it helps my neck as much as I would like it to–although Spineworx states upfront that it really isn’t designed for the neck, so this really isn’t a surprise, just something that would be nice. :) The only thing it does for my neck, as I mentioned earlier, is to stretch it some and help encourage the natural curvator (if I don’t use pillow beneath my head).

While the Spineworx definitely does not replace a chiropractor or massage therapist (nor does it claim to), I like it enough that I am sure to take it along even when we travel–or should I say *especially* when we travel, as it provides extra back relief from cheap hotel beds and pillows.

    Did Just What I Wanted

I’ve gone to chiropractors (primarily the same one) for over 20 years. I ended up last year with what appeared to be a bad adjustment that left me with blinding headaches for months (although I’m really not trying to fault my chiropractor, he’s a great guy and the change could have been coincidence) but I’ve been hesitant to go back ever since.

I get lower back pain and tension between my shoulders.

I have used this nightly now for about two weeks and I have noticed a good difference. It takes a little bit of getting used to. Let’s face it, when you are lying on it, you have two rigid rows poking into your back. After the initial discomfort (about 3 minutes for me) your body adjusts and I even dozed off once. Once you have done your time (up to 15 minutes) you roll off to the side – don’t try to sit up – and lay there for another couple of minutes. I get up feeling refreshed and pain free. I have often had my back ‘crack’ into place when I initially lay down but not always.

Make sure you put a pillow down for your head and that the higher bump is for your lower back (it is indicated by text printed on the Spine-Worx). Take your time getting used to it over a period of days or weeks and give it some time to do its thing.

Product caused more discomfort than without it
    Rating:2 out of 5 stars
My back bothers my from time to time and so I decided to give Spine-Worx a go after reading all of the glowing reviews. As with many others, I was surprised by the total lack of effort on the part of the manufacturer to dress up the product. The user guide is clearly a photocopy and not even a straight one. However, the most important thing is how the product works and I was a bit disappointed.

I tried using Spine-Worx several times and instead of feeling better, I felt worse. I followed the guidance of other reviewers to let my back relax or to take a hot shower prior to using it, but nothing seemed to help. Every time I used Spine-Worx I had discomfort in my shoulder and lower back. This product was definitely not for me.

Another important point to note is that the user manual states that those who suffer from medium to serious stages of Scoliosis should consult their physician before using Spine-Worx. Also those who have sustained sever back injury or have undergone recent surgery, bone fusion, or invasive therapy should not use Spine-Worx. Pregnant women should not use Spine-Worx without consulting their physician. Lastly, Spine-Worx is described in the manual as being only for people who are between 5′ and 6′4″ in height since there is only one size of Spine-Worx available and to quote the manual, “we do not believe that one size fits all”.

I bought this for my lower back. I must say that it worked absolute miracles for me. It is painful and hard to get used to at first but concentrating on letting your muscle’s relax is the key. Consistency on a daily basis is also key. Great product. I know what I am getting some people for Christmas!!!
