Lots of features, but fails on basic steps

The picture frame works well with an SD card, provided you resize your images ahead of time to the right size and store them on the card.

It suppose to provide windows media player interface via wifi, which never worked.

When it worked, the quirky media player bogged the system. Besides, where will you find a windows that does not need a reboot, or that stays up 24 hours a day?

No idea why Kodak would limit itself to a system like media player instead of something opensource – even NFS mount would have been enough.

Unfortunately the wifi features are useless as it stands.

Also, the device’s menu interface is awkward and counter-intuitive.

    A good gift

To start off, I opened the package and by some mistake went into some totally unknown language setting. So the first major thing that I had to do with it was RESET it. After that I took notice of all the instructions and got English as the language. Apart from this minor glitch( my mistake off-course) I really like this product. The screen looks nice and crisp. The extra decor sets are also very nice. It takes some time to get accustomed to the border-touch interface but once familiar it works pretty well. It can get five stars for the major part but the reason I`m giving it 4 stars are -

    1) The charger should have international voltage range (i.e. 110-230V like laptop chargers). I want to gift it to my sister in Britain, now I`v to buy a voltage converter!!!

    2) Cannot connect directly to computer (at least I`v not been able to figure out a way) but can connect to a camera.

    3) Should have built-in battery also at least 2 gigabytes of built-in storage.

    4) The screen can be bigger and the boundary smaller.

With these points now I feel like giving it 3 stars but it gets my 4 stars for the main thing- the actual display. very cute product. Awesome as a gift!!!

Hope kodak takes note of these points, then it can be a 5 star product.

My wife bought one for me as birthday present, and I love it so much that I bought one for her.

The frame looks beautiful standing on my office table, the picture is bright and vivid, the control is intuitive. I bought a digital frame of different brand 1 year ago and the resolution is so low that I returned it in a week. I thought digital picture frame sucks but this one is truely a pleasant surprise.

This is my first digital picture frame. And I have to say I am very impressed with this model.

Digital cameras are great. Instant feedback. You can take as many photos as you want, without worry because your only limitation is you memory card. But, what to do with all those pictures – you can’t develop them all and display them easily.

But these digital picture frames are fantastic. And this Kodak model seems like a winner.

The picture frame comes in with a white matte and a black aluminum frame. But included are burgundy and silver mattes you can employ to add some color to your frame. The unit itself has a 7 inch display which is adequate, but not great (resolution is okay but expected for the price and technology).

The frame has a touch screen for features (which pictures to display, time to show, transition effects and things like a timer for on/off of the frame). The features are fairly intuitive and do not require extensive study of the instruction manual (always a plus). However, you are not using a ‘touch-screen’ similar to an Ipod Touch, but rather you touch the edge of the screen to access features.

You should be aware that this uses electricity (Silly Rabbit! I thought it ran on air), so there is a white cord that will run from the frame to your closest outlet (the cord is about 5 ft long).

You can use either a memory card or a jump drive – which is very nice. It seems as if you have unlimited capacity for pictures then, which means you can add lots of pictures.

Overall, this is a great unit. The picture resolution is not the greatest, but it is very decent and tolerable for anyone but the most choosy of photo bugs (and they probably wouldn’t bother with this anyway). I have been able to see many great moments thanks to this little frame that I would not get to see regularly because I would not have developed the pictures.

In short, this is a reasonably priced unit, with thoughtful features (like the on/off timer). This would make an awesome gift for a spouse, parents or grandparents (or a narcissist: self: how do I look today? :) ).
